About CultureNet.ie
The Euro Focus on the Cultural Heritage is comprised of representatives of the key national cultural institutions of Ireland. The Euro Focus was established in 1989, in order to foster cooperation with the library, archive and museum sectors, to liaise with the European Commission in relation to Cultural Heritage and Reasearch funding initiatives and to disseminate information in relation to the cultural heritage sector. As part of these duties, the Euro Focus committee has developed the Irish national cultural portal - CultureNet.ie. CultureNet.ie is a gateway to Irish cultural resources online - primarily the websites and online databases of both national and local cultural institutions, such as libraries, museums, archives, galleries, performance art and theatre. CultureNet.ie - which combines a single point of access to cultural information, with searching capability across all of the websites - provides a unique and valuable service, to both the national and international community. Culturenet.ie simplifies the process of locating information about Ireland's culture and heritage for citizens, tourists, students, researchers and any other interested members of the community. The portal will continue to expand over time, as we add more institutions and information.
